A desperate vow. An impossible choice. A kingdom in crisis.

King Idomeneo survives a storm – at a terrible cost. When Neptune demands the sacrifice of his son, Idomeneo is forced to choose: the life of his child or the survival of his people?

Mozart’s breakthrough opera is a gripping moral drama that picks through the human wreckage of war and is set to a powerful, explosive score.

This new production unites conductor Robin Ticciati and Artistic Director Stephen Langridge for the first time at the Festival. Tenor Ian Koziara makes his UK debut in the title role, with mezzo-soprano Deepa Johnny as Idamante. See full cast and creative team details here.
