Your visit

Keeping you safe at Glyndebourne

Our Covid-19 safety measures for performances at Glyndebourne.

SAFETY IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY. DURING YOUR VISIT TO GLYNDEBOURNE YOU’LL FIND A NUMBER OF MEASURES IN PLACE TO PROTECT AUDIENCES AND STAFF. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THESE EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Covid-19 passports

For everyone’s safety, Glyndebourne will require all audience members to provide evidence of their COVID status when attending a performance of Messiah or our Christmas Concerts this December. When you arrive you’ll be asked to present proof of one of the following:

  • Double vaccination, with at least 14 days since the second dose was administered. Please present either your NHS app, vaccination card or NHS letter.
  • A negative lateral flow test, taken within 48 hours of the performance. We’ll need to see your government text or email confirming that your negative test has been reported. Rapid lateral flow tests can be ordered free of charge from the government website here and reported here.
  • Proof of natural immunity based upon a positive PCR test taken within 180 days of the performance (after completion of the isolation period).

We will also accept an EU Digital COVID Certificate as evidence of any of the above.

Parents or guardians will be asked to show proof of a negative test on behalf of under 18s.

Please note that entry will be refused if you do not supply this evidence.

If you’re unsure about how to provide evidence of your COVID status, please email us via boxoffice@glyndebourne.com.

Ensuring your safety at Glyndebourne

We promise to keep you feeling safe by:
  • Asking all audience members to provide evidence of their COVID-19 status on arrival to Glyndebourne
  • Using uncirculated air to heat the auditorium
  • Carrying out sanitisation and enhanced cleaning throughout Glyndebourne
  • Providing sanitising stations
  • Providing COVID-19 testing to all of our staff and performers
  • Operating a contactless ticketing system
Please show courtesy to others by:
  • Wearing a face mask whilst inside and when moving around the site, unless you are medically exempt. Glyndebourne is strongly encouraging the continued use of face coverings in the auditorium. This follows the theatre industry’s ‘See it safely’ guidance, in line with the Government’s recommendation that masks should still be worn indoors when mixing with people you don’t usually meet.
  • Showing your tickets on a mobile device where possible
  • Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds after using our facilities and using hand sanitiser when necessary
  • Bringing as few personal possessions as possible
  • Keeping your belongings with you at all times and taking your litter home

Our ‘Book with Confidence, Exchange with Ease’ pledge allows exchanges up to 24 hours ahead of a performance if a ticket holder cannot attend due to COVID-19.
