Danielle de Niese at Glyndebourne

A look back at her career on the Glyndebourne stage

In celebration of Danielle de Niese being named the recipient of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Opera’ award at the 2026 Olivier Awards, we are looking back at her career at Glyndebourne, from Cleopatra to Cendrillon.

Danielle first appeared on the Glyndebourne stage as Cleopatra in David McVicar’s Giulio Cesare in Festival 2005. It was a career-defining debut that, in her own words, ‘changed everything.’
