Your questions answered

What is Associate Membership?

Associate Members secure a place on the waiting list for lifelong Membership of the Glyndebourne Festival Society. Associate Members receive benefits and pay an initial fee and annual subscription.

What are the benefits of Associate Membership?
  • Associate Members have the opportunity to apply for up to 24 Festival tickets (spread across the Festival) in the second priority ticket ballot, immediately after the Festival Society Members’ ticket ballot.
  • A position on the waiting list for lifelong Festival Society Membership (the estimated waiting time is approximately 10-12 years).
  • Personal booking service
  • Newsletters
  • Advance information about the Festival and special events.

How much does Associate Membership cost?

Associate Members pay a one-off non-refundable registration fee of £500, and an annual subscription, which is currently £83.

Will the annual subscription rate increase?

We regularly review the annual subscriptions for Associate Membership and Festival Society Membership. Notification of a subscription increase will be posted to all subscribers at least 4 weeks before the subscription is due.

When do I pay my £500 joining fee?

The £500 fee is payable immediately upon joining.

Can Gift Aid be claimed on Membership fees and subscriptions?

If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim Gift Aid on Membership subscriptions at no extra cost to you. We cannot claim Gift Aid on registration or joining fees.

When do I pay my annual subscription?

The subscription is due in October each year for the following Festival. Annual subscription requests are sent out in September giving you the option to pay by credit card / debit card / cheque or to set up a Direct Debit.

It is a requirement of Membership that the annual subscription is paid by the named Member only.

Do any concessions apply to my annual subscription?

We regret not. All Associates and Members are required to pay the full subscription every year.

Can I hold my Membership jointly with my spouse/partner?

Associate Membership must be initially taken out in one person’s name. Once you have joined you may elect to hold your Membership jointly with your spouse/partner after you have registered. Please email and confirm the name of your spouse/partner.

Can Memberships be transferred or inherited?

No. Glyndebourne Memberships cannot be transferred other than between spouses or life partners.

How are Associate Membership places allocated?

Associate Membership places are allocated on a first come/first served basis.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or over.

As soon as the registration process is complete and the joining fee paid, the Associate Membership place is allocated and a position on the waiting list is secured.

What happens after I have joined as an Associate Member?

After we have received your fee payment we will email confirmation within three working days and then send your Welcome Pack (or Gift Pack) in the following 10 days. Full booking information and details about making your priority ticket application will be posted to you in October each year.

How long will I wait before reaching the top of the waiting list?

We anticipate that Associate Members will wait approximately 10 to 12 years for Membership of the Festival Society.

What happens when I reach the top of the waiting list?

When an Associate Member reaches the top of the waiting list the Membership team will be in contact.

There is no further fee to pay when taking up full Festival Society Membership. The subscription is currently £189.

What are the benefits and costs of Festival Society Membership?
  • Members of the Festival Society have the opportunity to apply for up to 24 Festival tickets (spread across 6 productions) in the Members’ first priority ticket ballot.
  • Personal booking service
  • A complimentary Festival Programme Book
  • Newsletters
  • Advance information about the Festival and special events.

Membership of the Festival Society is for life, subject to payment of an annual subscription.

Am I guaranteed tickets to the Glyndebourne Festival?

Priority booking through Associate Membership and Festival Society Membership offers an excellent opportunity to secure tickets to the Festival but we regret that requests cannot be guaranteed as inevitably certain productions and performances are oversubscribed.

By providing a wide selection of alternative dates, tickets prices and seating options, the chances of securing tickets may be increased. Please note that standing places and slips seats are not available during Festival Society Member or Associate Member priority booking.

Can I be an Under 30s member and Associate Membership at the same time?

Yes. Under 30s membership is free to join and is open to anyone aged 29 or under. Under 30s membership gives you access to Glyndebourne offers throughout the year, including tickets at heavily subsidised prices thanks to our New Generation Programme.

Please be aware that tickets available exclusively to Under 30s are not available to purchase during the Associate Members’ or Festival Society Members’ priority booking period.
