The costumes of Dame Felicity Lott
Organ Room
Celebrated British soprano Dame Felicity Lott DBE, FRAM, FRCM has long been associated with Glyndebourne. She made her debut in 1976 as the Countess in a Tour production of Richard Strauss’ Capriccio, a role she reprised in 1987, 1990 and 1998 and returned in 1977 as Anne Trulove in the Festival revival of The Rake’s Progress. Her extensive list of principal roles at Glyndebourne also include La Voix humane, Così fan tutte, Arabella, Don Giovanni, Der Rosenkavalier and Albert Herring.
In October 2026 a collection of costumes and gowns worn by Lott throughout her illustrious career will be auctioned by Kerry Taylor Auctions, London, in aid of Friends of Sussex Hospices. Glyndebourne is delighted to display five of these garments as part of our wider exhibition programming celebrating costume. The selection of costumes includes a kaftan made by Glyndebourne’s costume department, worn at the BBC Proms, and a military jacket designed by Laurent Pelly, director of this season’s Ariadne auf Naxos.
Glyndebourne wishes to thank Dame Felicity Lott, Tim Wonnacott, Kerry Taylor and Harriet Parry for their support with this display.
The Costumes of Dame Felicity Lott is on display in the Organ Room.
