A new fantastical family opera.

Spark tells a heartwarming tale of loss, friendship amd keeping the spark of imagination alive. Don’t miss this world premiere by composer Lucy Armstrong and librettist Olivia Bell, directed by Fiona Dunn.

Professional soloists and the Glyndebourne Sinfonia will be joined by two youth choruses, bringing the first full-scale opera created by Glyndebourne’s Balancing The Score scheme to life on the Glyndebourne mainstage.

Advisory information
Spark deals with themes of grief, loneliness and isolation, including school avoidance. The opera is ultimately optimistic in tone as the central character, whose brother has died, discovers different sources of support and hope.  It is suitable for Year 4 onwards (aged 8 and above).
