A Choral Celebration
Vivaldi's radiant Gloria is set alongside festive Baroque favourites
Performance Dates
A feast of Baroque choral classics celebrating the joy of the season.
The cheerful notes of Bach’s Wachet auf (Sleeper’s Awake), composed for the last Sunday before advent, make way for the high drama of Vivaldi’s exuberant Gloria, a sacred work with celebratory themes. In the second half of the concert, Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, written for Christmas Eve, is paired with Bach’s famous retelling of the nativity story in his Christmas Oratorio (Part I).
