Raise Your Voice
Raise Your Voice is an opera project for local people living with dementia
About Raise Your Voice
Raise Your Voice sessions are a welcoming and friendly place for people with dementia and their carers to be creative and enjoy spending time together as part of a bigger group. Sessions always include lots of singing, some drama, art and craft, as well as time to chat over tea or coffee. Each year we start a new opera project beginning in January and ending in December.
The theme for the year’s work is always an opera from Glyndebourne’s current Festival or Tour repertoire. The year is divided up into four terms (spring, summer, autumn and winter) of five sessions, each with a different focus on our opera theme. For much of the year we are based at Beechwood Hall in Cooksbridge, but as part of the project there are always plenty of chances to come and experience the magic of Glyndebourne for opera screenings, picnics and the intensive five-week winter workshop, working alongside musicians and singers from the Royal Academy of Music.
