Arts Award

Arts Award is a national qualification that recognises young people aged 11-25 who develop as artists and arts leaders

Arts Award at Home

Glyndebourne is more committed than ever to helping young people engage with opera and the arts, but the times in which we live mean we have to find new ways to create, learn and keep in contact with each other.

We know how hard it can be to make sense of what we are all living through, as well as finding a way to give shape and purpose to so much time alone away from school or college. Our need for cultural stimulation is as great if not greater in the hard times: the arts have always been humanity’s way of making sense of it all. That is why we are launching our new initiative Arts Award at Home.

Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents: it’s creative, valuable and accessible and is a national qualification, accredited by Trinity College London. There is so much you can do at home, on your own or with others in your household, and an Arts Award can be achieved completely remotely.

What you can expect from us

  • Support from an Arts Award advisor – group video calls throughout the process to help you stay on track and keep inspired.
  • Access to a wealth of online resources based on Glyndebourne productions and artists
  • Worksheets and prompts to help you get started

We are able to offer Discover, Explore or Bronze depending on how much time you want to commit to the scheme. Our scheme of work breaks down what is involved in each level and will help you decide which level you wish to complete.

Express your interest

If you are interested in completing an Arts Award at Home with Glyndebourne, please fill out the Expression of Interest below and a member of the Education team will be in touch soon. We hope to be able to offer everyone a place straight away, but if demand is very high we will look to support a second cohort later in the summer.

All details about Arts Award from Home can be found in this FAQ, including a breakdown of administration costs associated with each level.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this with a member of the team, please email education@glyndebourne.com. We are working remotely but can call you if you leave a telephone number or answer queries by email.

Glyndebourne is an Arts Award supporter. We provide opportunities for participants to complete their portfolios by giving them the chance to gain experience in everything from auditioning to rehearsing, meeting and interviewing people working in the arts, and attending and reviewing performances.

Attendance at a Glyndebourne Performance for Schools can be included in a students’ portfolio. Click here for information on how to see a performance this autumn.

Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England, working with ten regional Bridge organisations.
