Glyndebourne has won the Opera and Music Theatre prize at the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music (RPS) Awards for its 2015 production of Handel’s Saul.

The award is in recognition of the musical and artistic excellence of Barrie Kosky’s production, both at the Glyndebourne Festival and on Tour.

The RPS Music Awards are among the UK’s most eminent awards for live music and honour performers, composers, programmers and communicators as well as inspirational education and outreach work.

The winners of this year’s awards were announced last night. Highlights from the ceremony will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 at 7.30pm on 12 May.

A live recording of Saul from the 2015 Glyndebourne Festival is available now on DVD and Blu-ray from the Glyndebourne Shop.

There are also chances to see the opera on the big screen when it is broadcast in selected cinemas this autumn as part of the 2016 Glyndebourne Tour.
