Glyndebourne productions and performers have received seven nominations in the 2014/15 WhatsOnStage Opera Poll, it has been revealed.

Two of the summer’s new Glyndebourne Festival productions, Der Rosenkavalier directed by Richard Jones and Frederic Wake-Walker’s La finta giardiniera, are shortlisted in the Best Opera Production category.

Glyndebourne also appears twice in the Best Revival category for its 5* stagings of Jonathan Kent’s The Turn of the Screw, revived by Francesca Gilpin for the 2014 Glyndebourne Tour, and Bruno Ravella’s revival of Robert Carsen’s Rinaldo which closed the 2014 Glyndebourne Festival.

Iestyn Davies, who played the title role in Rinaldo this summer, is nominated for the Outstanding Operatic Performance prize for that performance and his role in Rodelinda at English National Opera.

Highlighting the success of Glyndebourne Tour in showcasing emerging talent, two of its 2014 performers appear in the Breakthrough Artist category – Anthony Gregory, a former Jerwood Young Artist who played Quint in The Turn of the Screw, and Rosa Feola who played Sandrina in the touring version of La finta giardiniera.

The shortlist for the WhatsOnStage Opera Poll is drawn from opera productions staged between 1 December 2013 and 30 November 2014. The winners will be decided by a public vote which is open now and closes on 31 January 2015. Vote for your favourites on the WhatsOnStage website.
