The DVD release of Glyndebourne’s 2013 production of Hippolyte et Aricie has been nominated in the Best Opera Recording category of the GRAMMY Awards, it was announced last week.

Filmed during the production’s premiere run at the 2013 Glyndebourne Festival, the DVD was released in the summer of 2014.

The production was Glyndebourne’s first staging of an opera by the French baroque composer Jean Phillipe Rameau. It was created by director Jonathan Kent and designer Paul Brown, the team behind Glyndebourne’s hugely popular 2009 production of The Fairy Queen. William Christie conducted the orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment with Sarah Connolly, Christiane Karg, Ed Lyon and Stéphane Degout leading the cast.

Nominations for the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced on 5 December and the awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on 8 February 2015.
