We have an exciting opportunity to join our Development department.

This wide ranging role will be responsible for supporting the Glyndebourne Development team in all aspects of its activity with Glyndebourne’s donors and prospects. Duties include research into donor prospects, maintaining accurate donor and departmental records, assisting with incoming enquiries and providing general administrative support to a busy Development Team.

Fundraising experience is not essential, but the successful candidate will be keen to develop their skills and knowledge. The role is an excellent opportunity to become part of a successful and collaborative development office and gain experience in cultural sector fundraising.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate departmental records for donors and donations on the  fundraising database (Tessitura) as well as filing and recording data and materials in accordance with general data protection regulation.
  • Carrying out predominantly internet-based research into major donor prospects, Trusts & Foundations and corporate partners in order to obtain relevant information that can contribute to proposals, donor strategies, and support activities. 
  • Liaising with the fundraising team to assist and help with record management.
  • Managing thanking protocols for the department to ensure donors are thanked in a timely manner. 
  • Assisting with donor receptions during the Glyndebourne Festival between May – August and at other events for donors and prospects throughout the year.
  •  Assisting the Development Team in collating accurate data for reporting purposes.
  • Ensuring donor name listings are accurate and kept up to date for both the annual programme book and other credit listings
  • Providing general assistance to the Development Office and assuming other tasks within the scope and responsibility of the role as required.
  • Where required, to work outside of standard office hours including evenings and weekends (time off in lieu is available)
  • Maintaining the efficiency and smooth running of the Development Office

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Professional and friendly communication style and ability to interact with a wide range of people. 
  • Efficient time management and ability to multitask against  deadlines, with a focussed and calm approach.
  • Experience of a CRM system or a demonstrable willingness to learn and become proficient in this area. 
  • Good at working independently, prioritising, managing reactive work, balancing multiple requirements, adapting to new situations and using initiative.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Ambition to learn and become an integral part of the team.

Salary and Benefits

We can offer a salary of up to £24,000 per annum, depending on experience. Salaries are reviewed annually on 1st January.

The contractual hours of work are 35 per week but will involve unsociable hours including evenings and weekends during the Glyndebourne Festival, Autumn programme and at other times of the year.

We offer 6.6 weeks holiday per year including public holidays.
