Work Experience

Glyndebourne runs a comprehensive programme of work experience placements and applicants from all backgrounds with varying levels of practical experience will be considered.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from under 16s. Places in our production or making departments will only be offered to those with relevant technical experience. Due to the high demand for places not all applications will be successful.

We are happy to meet any access needs that we reasonably can; this may be in partnership with any existing arrangements in place (i.e. through school/college).

‘I found the week very enjoyable and also interesting as I was able to explore the different departments that create Glyndebourne and learn about the skills needed for all of them.’

—Work experience participant, 2016

Administrative work experience – aPPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

In 2019 we will provide ten week-long placements for administrative work experience at Glyndebourne. A work experience week at Glyndebourne offers local young people (age 16+ and still at school or college) the invaluable opportunity to see an internationally renowned opera company at work. Over the course of five days you will have the opportunity to experience and work in a variety of different departments, learn about the many and varied jobs people do at Glyndebourne and (when possible) watch a rehearsal or performance. Some placements have additional hours available staffing education projects – these have been indicated in the listing below and on the application form.

You can use your work experience week with us to achieve a Bronze Arts Award. Please indicate if you are interested in this on your application.

If you have any questions please contact Kate Simner at education@glyndebourne.com

Costume department work experience

It is with regret that the Costume department is unable to offer any work experience placements in 2018 / 2019 but we hope that this important programme can be resumed in 2020.

Glyndebourne’s Stage Management and Props

Glyndebourne’s Stage Management and Props departments are not currently accepting any new applications for work experience placements.
