The Organ Room Sessions:

Vuvu Mpofu

Vuvu Mpofu performs arias from Rigoletto and I Capuleti e i Montecchi in the historic Glyndebourne Organ Room.

In the latest of the Organ Room Sessions, our new series of musical performances, Vuvu Mpofu performs arias from Rigoletto and I Capuleti e i Montecchi in the historic Glyndebourne Organ Room.

Vuvu is currently appearing in the Festival production of Rusalka. She returns to Glyndebourne this autumn to play Gilda in our first new production of Rigoletto.

In our first video, Vuvu performs Gilda’s lovely aria ‘Caro nome’, which captures the sweetness and innocence of the character. There’s a folk-like simplicity to it, and its form (which essentially embellishes and varies the opening melody endlessly) shows a girl smitten by first love turning the idea of her beloved over endlessly in her mind.

For her second piece, Vuvu has selected ‘Eccomi… O quante volte’ from I Capuleti i Montecchi by Bellini.
