3pm, 75 minsMacbeth is a new one-act chamber opera with music by Luke Styles, Glyndebourne’s recent Young Composer-in-Residence.
Directed by Ted Huffman, Macbeth will feature an all-male cast with soloists from the Glyndebourne Chorus and the Jerwood Young Artists programme, as well as music from the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
This new opera re-tells one of Shakespeare’s greatest tales in a starkly contemporary context, focusing on the political, human aspects of the play, which are often overshadowed by the show’s supernatural elements.
Macbeth is generously supported by Ms Linda Christmas, Hamish and Sophie Forsyth and Miss Myriam Trevaux Charitable Trust through investment from Glyndebourne’s New Generation Programme.
