Do you have a feeling the world could be better? 

Introducing a groundbreaking collaboration between Glyndebourne and Minnesota Opera. Following successful youth opera productions of Belongings by Lewis Murphy and Laura Attridge, young people from both sides of the Atlantic will join together to revisit the themes of the opera and create new work inspired by the world of 2020.

A group drawn from the casts of the Glyndebourne and Minnesota productions of Belongings will work together with a team of professionals via online sessions. This creative youth-led process will create a vision for a better future.

About the Team


Darren Abrahams is a coach, therapist, trainer and social entrepreneur and is the creator of many programmes designed to expand the potential of individuals and groups. He works internationally as a facilitator and project leader in the fields of cultural, personal and community development. He is Co-Founder of The Human Hive and The Starr Trust and Wellbeing Advisor/Trainer with Musicians Without Borders. He is a qualified trauma therapist, a Certified High Performance Coach and a professional singer.


Kao Kalia Yang is a Hmong-American writer, teacher and public speaker. The author of award winning books for adults and children alike. Her second book, The Song Poet won the 2016 Minnesota Book Award in Creative Nonfiction Memoir and has been commissioned as a youth opera by the Minnesota Opera and will premiere in the spring of 2021.


Praised for her ‘superbly controlled, sensuous soprano’ (Opera Today), British soprano Nardus Williams is an English National Opera Harewood Artist, was a member of the Houston Opera Studio for the 2018/19 season and is a former Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne. Nardus was in the original cast of Belongings in 2016.
