Free Youth Opera workshops

Glyndebourne Youth Opera provides local young people with engaging opera workshops open to all.

Love singing and performing? Want to have your voice heard and to make a change?

Join us for free Youth Opera workshops in Eastbourne and Worthing – this could be your first step on a journey to perform on Glyndebourne’s main stage!

Fortnightly Youth Opera workshops

Who are they for? These workshops are for young people aged 14 to 19 in Sussex who are interested in singing and performing. Anyone is welcome to join!

What will we be doing? At each session you’ll be singing, acting, moving, sharing and creating with directors, singers, visual artists and more. Over 6 months you’ll learn how to use the arts to make a real difference in your local area and beyond.

You’ll use opera as a key to unlock how different art forms can be used to talk about the changes you want to see in the world today and we’ll support you to use your creativity to take real action that leaves a lasting legacy.

When and where? The workshops start on Tuesday 12 September in Eastbourne (Leaf Hall) and Thursday 14 September in Worthing (Goring CofE Primary School), we will be meeting fortnightly until April 2024, excluding half-term and Christmas break dates.

Find the full schedule below:
Eastbourne

What does it cost? All sessions are FREE, with dinner provided and funding for travel available for those who need it. Both venues are close to train and bus links.

This project is a collaboration with The Human Hive, a social enterprise that trains people from all over the world to become change makers.

Your chance to perform on the Glyndebourne stage

In summer 2024 we will begin recruiting for a brand new production written for our Glyndebourne Youth Opera, premiering in spring 2025. The workshops above will provide you with tools, skills and confidence for the audition process if you choose to take part.
