Position: Conductor

Nationality: Russian

One of a rising generation of very young conductors, he was born in 1988 to a family of musicians and made his conducting debut at the age of 12. He studied conducting at the Nizhny Novgorod Music School and later with Gennadi Rozhdestvensky at Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He also studied fortepiano and harpsichord with Maria Uspenskaya. He is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions, including the 2012 Hans von Bülow Piano Competition, the 2010 Musica Antica Harpsichord Competition and the 2010 Volkonsky Harpsichord Competition. He received the Golden Mask award for his harpsichord recording of Le nozze di Figaro with Perm Opera Theatre for Sony Classics. He has also received the prestigious German ECHO award, a 2017 Gramophone Award, a Choc de Classica 2018 and an International Classical Music Award 2019 for his recordings as both harpsichordist and conductor. In 2019/20, he takes up his position as Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
