Voice: Mezzo-Soprano

Nationality: Swedish

After a prestigious international career as a dramatic soprano, acclaimed for her performances of Brünnhilde in numerous productions of Wagner’s Ring cycle, she is now firmly focused on a mezzo-soprano repertoire with recent role debuts including Kostelnicka/Jenůfa, Klytaemnestra/Elektra, Amneris/Aida and Herodias/Salome.  She has enjoyed collaborations with conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Sir Mark Elder and has a discography ranging from Marietta/Die tote Stadt (Royal Swedish Opera) to Brangäne/Tristan und Isolde (Met). She has been recognised for her outstanding service to the arts by her homeland of Sweden, being honoured as court singer by special appointment to the King as well as with the Litteris et Artibus royal medal. Taken from the Festival 2021 programme book.
