A lighting designer since 1989, he has worked with Claus Peymann, Stefan Bachmann, Daniel Libeskind, Aletta Collins, Herzog & de Meuron, Gil Mehmert, Bolshoi Ballet, Giorgio Armani, Tina Lanik, Volker Schlöndorff, Vera Nemirova and Rebecca Horn. Since 1992 he has enjoyed a close collaboration with Robert Wilson, lighting productions including Three Sisters, Der Ring des Nibelungen, Die Frau ohne Schatten, Leonce and Lena, Hamlet, Die Dreigroschenoper, Shakespeare’s Sonnets, and Das kleine Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern. His lighting designs have been seen at Opéra Monte Carlo, Festival de Théâtre des Amériques Montreal, Salzburg, BAM, Paris, Staatsoper Berlin, La Monnaie, Zürich, Venice Biennale, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Genève, Barbican Centre, EIF, Nationaltheatret Oslo, Stadsteatern Stockholm, Dramaten Stockholm, Lincoln Center New York and Ruhrtriennale.
