Find out more about Liverpool Empire Theatre

Liverpool Empire Theatre is located by Lime Street station in the heart of the city. With the largest collection of museums and galleries anywhere outside of London, culture and heritage are at the very core of the city.

The theatre is the second to be built on the site, and was opened in 1925. It has the largest two-tier auditorium in Britain and can seat 2,348 people.

Although we have toured to Liverpool before (from the 1940s to the 1970s), 2019 is our first time at the Liverpool Empire Theatre and we are looking forward to returning to this vibrant city. To celebrate our return we have launched Opera Liverpool with other opera companies to showcase the diverse annual offering from semi-staged productions at the RLPO from Opera North to fully staged productions from us and WNO at the Liverpool Empire Theatre.
