Following its world premiere at Glyndebourne during Autumn Season 2025, we’re bringing a staged concert of Mark Anthony Turnage’s new opera The Railway Children to Southbank Centre for one night only.

About the opera

Secrets, spices and adventure: a much-loved children’s classic becomes a thrilling new opera.

When their father disappears overnight, three siblings must make a new life – uncovering conspiracies, forging friendships and finding courage beside the railway tracks. Don’t miss this new opera by Olivier Award-winning composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and librettist Rachael Hewer.
