The Magic Flute (2009)
Commissioned for an audience of schools and families, as a way to introduce young people (aged 6-11) to opera, as part of the Primary Opera Experience scheme.
After two sell-out performances at the Brighton Festival in May 2009, Glyndebourne decided to broaden the impact of the project by adding four extra main stage performances of the opera.
Also seen around the country through five performances as part of Glyndebourne Tour
The adaptation, by Dominic Harlan and Brendan Murray, drew on elements of pantomime and fairytale, as well as audience participation, to give a new and intimate approach to this well-known opera.
