The Beggars Opera / Glyndebourne Festival wartime tour 1940

Composer: John Gay

Librettist: John Gay

Sung In: English

Version: Frederic Austin

Notes: NB There is some difficulty in recording the run of this opera accurately - Anthony Bernard was conductor. Michael Mudie was assistant conductor and it is not clear who conducted when. By the time the show had gone to the Haymarket, Bernard had left and Frederick Austin and Michael Mudie alternated performances. Therefore all the conductors dates are surmised, not confirmed. It is also difficult to trace when understudies went on.
