New Production Hub for 2019
For those coming along to the Festival this year you might notice that there is some construction work taking place on site. Our production hub is currently being built and will be the home for our props, costume and making departments when it is finished in Spring 2019.
Our international reputation as a great opera house stems from a passion for excellence encapsulated in founder John Christie’s insistence on doing ‘not the best we can do, but the best that can be done anywhere’.
In order to achieve the high standards that we set for ourselves, we employ some of the best practitioners who work here on site producing the very finest props, sets, costumes and wigs.
The new Production Hub will bring all making departments under one roof, giving our production teams the facilities to match their expertise. It will also feature a new rehearsal studio and music practice rooms. This new venture will ensure Glyndebourne’s future in continuing to produce opera that is out of the ordinary.
The Glyndebourne Production Hub is the largest building project we have undertaken since the rebuild of the Opera House and wouldn’t have been possible without generous legacies. This year donations to our Annual Fund will contribute towards the funding of equipment essential to the ongoing creation of out of the ordinary opera.
