Am I eligible?

  • Tax liability: to be eligible, the amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax you pay must at least equal the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your charitable donations in that tax year. Please note: If you pay less tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed, it is your responsibility to pay any difference to HMRC.
  • Corporate Donations: Donations made from a company account are not eligible for Gift Aid.
  • Payroll Giving: Donations made via payroll giving are not eligible, as they are taken before tax is applied.
  • Charity Accounts/Vouchers: Gifts made via charity accounts or vouchers (such as Charities Aid Foundation / CAF) are not eligible, as the voucher provider has already claimed Gift Aid on that money.
  • Gift Memberships: To claim Gift Aid on a membership, the person paying for the membership and the person receiving the benefits must be the same individual. Therefore, Membership contributions made for someone else, such gift memberships, are not eligible for Gift Aid.
