Glyndebourne runs a comprehensive programme of work experience placements, and applicants from all backgrounds and with varying levels of practical experience will be considered. We are happy to meet any access needs that we reasonably can; for some, we may need to do this in partnership with others (school/college etc.).
Unfortunately, we cannot place applicants who are under 16, and only those with relevant and thorough technical experience will be placed in our production or making departments. There is an enormous demand for places and not all applications will be successful.
Apply now for 2015
Administrative Work Experience
Applications are currently closed for administrative placements at Glyndebourne in 2015. These are for local young people (within a 25 mile radius of Glyndebourne) aged 16+ who are still at school or college. We will accept applications for 2016 later in the year. You can see the application form for reference (below).
If you have any questions please contact Kate Simner at email@example.com
Costume Department Work Experience
The Costume Department have now filled all their placements for work experience in 2015. If you would like to apply for a place in 2016, please see the attached application form.
You will be placed in the production workroom with skilled cutters, tailors and costume makers. You will see how costumes are stored and maintained during the Festival and Touring seasons, and how production information is recorded for future revivals. Placements are for two weeks and are unpaid.
It is preferred that you are a second or third year student on a degree or diploma course which centres on costume construction and/or tailoring. You should have above average sewing skills and a sound basic knowledge of period and modern clothing construction and terminology.
Applications should be returned to Pauline Lecrass, Head of Costume, as soon as possible either by post or email to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any questions please contact Sam Stonard at email@example.com
Glyndebourne’s Stage Management, and Props departments are not currently accepting any new applications for work experience placements.
