Director of Audience Development and Media

We are now recruiting a Director of Audience Development and Media

Glyndebourne is recognised internationally as one of the great opera houses; a reputation that stems from a passion for artistic excellence encapsulated in founder John Christie’s insistence on doing “not the best we can do but the best that can be done anywhere”.

Today, Glyndebourne is a year-round operation. The Festival presents a programme of operas throughout the summer, and the annual Glyndebourne Tour, established to bring opera to new audiences across the country and create opportunities for talented young singers, runs from October to December. Our inaugural biennial international opera singing competition took place in March 2018, and we run a widely respected education programme that stages new work and delivers projects to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of opera.  Many more people experience Glyndebourne’s work through its yearly programme of cinema screenings, free online streaming, and pioneering specialist recordings to share our work with a global audience through these channels, and we also offer reduced price tickets to under-30s.

We are now recruiting a Director of Audience Development and Media to help realise our ambitions to put wider and more diverse audiences at the heart of everything we do. You will develop and deliver a fully integrated media, marketing and communications strategy to grow current and future audiences for all of our activities across different platforms, and maximise opportunities for innovative partnerships and revenue generation from our content.  With a passion for the work and mission of Glyndebourne, candidates will bring substantive multimedia experience and evidence of delivering successful digital initiatives, alongside a successful track record of delivering change in a complex organisation and the ability to build a wide range of relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
