    Moderated by journalist Warwick Thompson and joined by members of the production, our Study Day will give you an in-depth insight into our production of Pelléas et Mélisande. Through expert talks, panel discussions and musical previews this event will offer a glimpse into the world behind this exciting opera.

    The speakers include Colin Jones CBE, Professor of History at Queen Mary University of London who specialises in the history of France. He is joined by musicologist Richard Langham-Smith who has published and lectured extensively on French opera with a particular interest in Debussy. He is co-author of the Cambridge Opera Handbook to Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande and has written many articles on the opera.
