Support The Wreckers

Bring this powerful, claustrophobic tragedy to Glyndebourne for the very first time.

You can debut this thunderous production in Festival 2022 by joining The Wreckers Syndicate or Circle from £5,000.

When survival comes at the cost of another’s life, two lovers are faced with an impossible choice.

Melly Still directs a major new staging of Dame Ethel Smyth’s opera – a powerful, cinematic psychodrama set on the Cornish coast. Conducted by Robin Ticciati, the exhilarating score surges with stormy urgency. Glyndebourne’s production will be the first-ever staging of the opera’s original French-language version, and the first professional, major-house house staging in our lifetime. This will also be the first production performed in the Glyndebourne Festival which has been composed by a woman.

The cast includes Markus Brück as Pascoe, Clementine Margaine as Thirza, James Rutherford as Lawrence and Rodrigo Porras Garulo as Mark.
