Help us to bring one of our greatest productions back to the stage

The 2020 Festival sees the revival of one of Glyndebourne’s most popular and enduring productions, The Rake’s Progress directed by John Cox and designed by David Hockney. The production premiered in 1975 and Festival 2020 offers audiences the first opportunity to see it on stage in a decade.

The production is considered by many to be the definitive staging of the opera. Stravinsky’s music overflows with lyricism and emotion and the Hogarth engravings that inspired the opera were visually integrated into David Hockney’s bold, stylised designs.

‘In sharing our wealth now we keep opera houses like Glyndebourne going for generations to come’

– Handel and Yvonne Evans, Production supporters
