The Creation
Haydn’s greatest choral work is a vivid musical depiction of the seven days of creation.
Performance Dates
What does a sky full of stars sound like? What about an angel, or a tiger preparing to pounce? That’s the challenge Haydn answers so spectacularly in The Creation – a choral epic brought to life by the Glyndebourne Chorus and an all-star team of soloists.
Shoals of fish and flocks of birds, stars and seas, valleys and mountains, Adam and Eve, even the ‘great whales’ and the humble worm: Haydn conjures them all in a piece flooded with colour and drama.
Haydn’s greatest choral work has captured generation after generation with its breath-taking retelling of the earth’s own origin-story. Expect invention, energy, even humour, as Haydn creates an entire world from the spectacular sounds of a chorus, orchestra and soloists.
