Glyndebourne Junior Performers provides specialist training led by Mary King for 14-19 year olds interested in pursuing a career in singing
Who it is for
Glyndebourne Junior Performers is open to talented young singers in our local area aged between 14 and 19. Singers will not currently be studying at undergraduate level but will either be considering studying music beyond school, interested in pursuing a career in singing, or looking to develop to fulfil their singing potential.
What it involves
Between September 2019 and July 2020 the 8 – 10 young singers selected to be Glyndebourne Junior Performers will receive specialist training in disciplines including voice, language, music, drama and movement. They will also have the opportunity to attend rehearsals and to meet singers involved in Glyndebourne Tour and Festival productions and to gain an insight into the world of professional opera singers.
Who will lead it?
Mary King will lead the Glyndebourne Junior Performers programme with input from a broad range of opera professionals.
Mary’s multi-faceted career encompasses roles as a performer, coach, writer and broadcaster. She has appeared in concerts and operas all over the world and is a leading exponent of contemporary vocal music. Her high-profile career as a vocal coach includes work for a wide range of choral, operatic and musical theatre groups and solo performers. She is also renowned as a writer and broadcaster on TV and radio.
