A Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the life and work of Sir Peter Hall CBE will take place in Westminster Abbey at 12.00pm on Tuesday 11 September 2018.
Not only was Sir Peter one of the country’s great theatre directors but his contribution to opera was immense and enduring. Most significant in his operatic work were the many fine productions he created for Glyndebourne over a 35-year period. He was Glyndebourne’s Director of Productions from 1984 to 1990 and was influential in the decision to build a larger theatre for Glyndebourne, which resulted in the creation of the new opera house nearly 25 years ago.
In Westminster Abbey, on 11 September, Sir Peter’s life will be celebrated with specially chosen music, lessons, readings and tributes given by those who knew Sir Peter well.
Individuals are invited to apply for up to two free tickets for the Service.
