Glyndebourne congratulates Erin Morley on her pregnancy, unfortunately this means that she will not be performing the role of Sophie in the Glyndebourne Festival 2018 production of Der Rosenkavalier.
Replacing her will be British soprano Louise Alder and American coloratura soprano Elizabeth Sutphen.
Louise Alder trained at the RCM International Opera School where she was the inaugural Kiri Te Kanawa Scholar. She has been a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble since 2014 and roles there this season include Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Sophie in Werther and Despina in _Così fan tutte_. Other recent engagements include Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier for Welsh National Opera.
Elizabeth Sutphen graduated from the Juilliard School and joined the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt in the 2016/17 season where her roles included Tiny in Paul Bunyan, Romilda in Xerxes, Die Heilige Jungfrau in Jeanne D’Arc Au Bucher and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte. She is currently performing the role of Lisa in La Sonnambula for Oper Frankfurt.
Der Rosenkavalier is at the 2018 Glyndebourne Festival from 20 May – 26 June.
