Georg Baselitz at Festival 2015

The inaugural artist is German painter, printmaker, sculptor and draughtsman Georg Baselitz, who has consistently challenged the mainstream in his 50-year career.

The Glyndebourne paintings are a new series that depict legs spinning like turntables in an evolution of an earlier motif. The works embody playfulness, expectation and musicality, while their titles reference Bach, Mozart and Wagner.

Festival 2015 ticket holders will be able to enjoy Baselitz’s work at the temporary gallery from 21 May when the Festival opens.
