Tamara Mumford

Born in Utah, she holds a music degree from Utah State University and a Masters of Music from Yale. A recent graduate of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Programme, she made her debut as Laura/Luisa Miller (the Met), and has since appeared there in War and Peace, Manon Lescaut, Parsifal, Idomeneo, Cavalleria rusticana and the new children’s English version of The Magic Flute.

Other roles include Isabella/L’italiana in Algeri (Palm Beach Opera); title role/The Rape of Lucretia (Chateauville Foundation); La Zia Principessa/Suor Angelica, Ciesca/Gianni Schicchi (with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi); Angelina/La Cenerentola (Utah Festival Opera). She has sung in concert at Carnegie Hall (with James Levine and the Met Chamber Orchestra) and appeared in festival and on tour with the Musicians from Marlboro.

Future engagements include Rigoletto, The Ring des Niebelungen (the Met) and a performance at this year’s BBC Proms.
