Born in Britain, he studied archaeology and anthropology at Cambridge. He was a choral scholar at St John’s College before pursuing vocal studies at the RAM.
His roles include Ottone (Zürich); Hamor/Jephtha, L’humana fragilità, Pisandro/Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (WNO); Counter-tenor/King Arthur, Voice of Apollo/Death in Venice (ENO); Corrado/La Griselda (Champs-Elysées). Concert engagements include Chichester Psalms (with the Orchestra Filharmonica della Scala); Britten’s Canticles; Bach’s Mass in B Minor; Handel’s Messiah and Flavio.
He has sung with the OAE, AAM, SCO, LPO, Ensemble Matheus and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Concertgebouw, Snape Maltings and Champs-Élysées. Future engagements include Handel’s Belshazzar (RAH); Partenope (ENO); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Houston Grand Opera).
