Glyndebourne's performed L'incoronazione di Poppea to an audience at the Royal Albert Hall under the direction of renowned Baroque conductor, Emmanuelle Haïm on Thursday 31 July, 7.00pm - c10.30pm

The specially devised semi-staging featured Danielle de Niese as the power hungry Poppea and the British mezzo Alice Coote, who made her Glyndebourne debut at the 2008 Festival as Nero.

Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea is one of the earliest operas in the repertoire and tells the story of Emperor Nero's forbidden passion for Poppea. To find out more visit: about the opera, synopsis and edition details.

Ticket holders attended a pre-performance event featuring Emmanuelle Haïm in discussion with Radio 3 presenter Suzy Klein, followed by a presentation of the Poppea film project (a joint project from Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Glyndebourne Education).
