Now living in Italy, she was born in Riga, Latvia.
A graduate of the Jãzeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, she has been the recipient of scholarships and awards including the Latvian Grand Music Award. She was also the winner of the 2006 Plácido Domingo Operalia Contest.
Roles include Leïla/Les Pêcheurs de perles, Sàffi/The Gypsy Baron, Lola/Cavalleria rusticana (Sigulda Opera Festival, Latvia); Giannetta/L’elisir d’amore (Küldiga, Latvia); Mimì/La bohème (the Met, Los Angeles Opera, Valencia); Euridice/Orfeo ed Euridice (the Met); Teresa/Benvenuto Cellini (Salzburg); Donna Elvira/Don Giovanni (Verona, Latvian National Opera, Teatro Filharmonico, Teatro Reggio Emilia, Kristiansand Opera Festival); Mimì (Latvian National Opera); Countess Almaviva (Berlin Staatsoper, New National Theatre Tokyo); Micaëla/Carmen (the Met, ROH).
Future engagements include Liù/Turandot (Washington); debuts in Munich, San Francisco, the Torre del Lago Puccini Festival in Italy, and a return to the Met as Mimì.
