Born in Rome, he studied art, music and drama at Bologna University. He has worked throughout Europe and the USA in television and cinema, directing a number of short movies and video clips.
Since 2000 he has assisted Graham Vick on various projects including the Maggio Musicale, Le nozze di Figaro (GFO) and several revivals. Directing credits include Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne in a double bill with La serva padrona (Lugo Opera Festival, Bologna); Pagliacci (Wexford Festival); L’elisir d’amore, Il re pastore, Le nozze di Figaro, Il matrimonio segreto (Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen); Le nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, La finta giardiniera (Cortona and national tour).
He has collaborated with directors including John Copley, Talmage Fauntleroy, Stefano Vizioli and Franco Ripa di Meana. In 2006 he founded www.spurio.com, an experimental project that involves opera, film making, video art and live performance.
