After studying English and Drama at Goldsmith’s College in London, she trained in lighting design while working in the music business.
She was the recipient of the 2006 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Lighting for Don Carlos (Sheffield Crucible, West End), and the 2005 Laurence Olivier Award for her lighting of His Dark Materials (NT). Opera credits include Carmen, Le nozze di Figaro, Faust, Rigoletto, Die Zauberflöte, Macbeth, The Cunning Little Vixen (ROH); St Matthew Passion, Così fan tutte, Giulio Cesare, The Miserly Knight, Gianni Schicchi, Carmen, La bohème (GFO); Les Contes d’Hoffman (Salzburg); A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Agrippina (La Monnaie); L’incoronazione di Poppea, Semele (Champs-Elysées); Das Rheingold (Strasbourg). She has also worked on productions for ENO, Opera North, Scottish Opera, WNO.
