Born in Brno, Czech Republic, he studied conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Jirí Belohlávek. Currently Principal Conductor of the Prague Philharmonia and Music Director of the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic, he has worked as Associate Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic and as Young Associate Conductor with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

He has conducted Werther (Opera Hong Kong); The Cunning Little Vixen, Krapp’s Last Tape (Prague National Theatre), and appeared as guest conductor with orchestras including the BBCSO, CBSO, RSNO, Bournemouth Symphony, Berlin Deutsches Symphonie, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Hong Kong Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. He is signed to Supraphon and his recordings include Dvorák’s Serenade for Strings, Serenade for Winds (with the Prague Philharmonia).

From 2009-10, he will become Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Prague Philharmonia. He will also appear with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Verdi Orchestra Milan and Strasbourg Philharmonic. In May 2009 he will conduct the Prague National Theatre’s new production of Rusalka.
