He was a choral scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge, and trained at the RAM, where he won the inaugural Sir Elton John Scholarship and a John Lewis Award. He has been selected for the BBC New Generation Artists scheme and was awarded a 2008 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. He is an Associate Artist with the Classical Opera Company.
He made his debut for Opera North as Lampwick/Pinocchio. Concerts include Handel’s Jephtha, Messiah (CBSO and RLPO); Elgar’s The Kingdom (Oxford); The Dream of Gerontius (Guildford); Britten’s Canticles and The War Requiem (Perth, Australia); Bach’s St Matthew Passion (RAH); Bruckner’s Te Deum (RLPO); The Creation (Snape); Handel's Joshua (London Handel Festival).
He has given recitals at St John’s Smith Square, Wigmore Hall, and in Aberdeen. Future engagements include Albert Herring (Opéra-Comique); Belmonte/Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Opera North); concerts with the Britten Sinfonia; The City of London, Cheltenham and Three Choirs Festivals, BBC Proms.
