You will be placed in the production workroom with skilled cutters, tailors and costume makers. You will see how costumes are stored and maintained during the Festival and Touring Seasons, and how production information is recorded for future revivals.
For this placement it is preferred that you are:
A second or third year student in a degree or diploma course which involves one or more of the following – Costume / Tailoring / Fashion
And that you have:
- above average sewing skills
- a sound basic knowledge of period and modern clothing construction and terminology.
A placement will last for two weeks. Extended placements may be made available to students who require work experience as a part of their course.
You will need to specify when you will be available, giving two or three alternative dates between 3rd March and 12th September 2008, excluding 17th- 28th April.
Working hours are Monday – Friday from 9.00am 6.00pm with 1hr for lunch.
Students will be responsible for their travelling and personal expenses. An accommodation list is available from Glyndebourne.

Owing to Glyndebourne’s heavy production schedule it is not always possible to offer all applicants a placement. If you are not placed, and your application is appropriate, you may wish to re-apply for the 2009 Season.
