About the Performance

In the 350th anniversary year of the composer's birth, Glyndebourne are presenting this lavish baroque gem at the BBC proms. Purcell's semi-opera, devised to grace a cut-down version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, takes the form of a series of fantastical masques presented for the entertainment of Titania, Oberon and their fairy court.

Baroque master William Christie presides over a semi-staging of a new production fresh from it's premiere at the 75th Anniversary Glyndebourne Festival.

The perfomance will last for approximately 180 minutes. There will be one interval.
