Further details about the programme:
On the Rim of the World
A co-commissioned piece of choral theatre by composer Orlando Gough and writer Jehane Markham. Supported by the Paul Hamlyn Education Fund. On the Rim of the World is inspired by the themes of night and bedtime, home and family life, sleep and dreams. It deals with the transition from childhood to adulthood and portrays the adult world viewed through children’s eyes. The piece is for adults’ as well as children’s voices and includes music the young people have composed themselves.
The performance will feature 70 children aged 8-13 from the Glyndebourne Youth Opera Groups 1 & 2 with their parents and carers and with players from the Brighton Youth Orchestra.

The performance, presented as part of Sing Up Newhaven and Peacehaven, features students now studying at Peacehaven Community School and Newhaven Tideway School alongside chamber choirs from the two secondary schools, musicians from the Royal Academy of Music and a professional singer.
