"Costume at Christmas" at Brighton's Royal Pavillion was a unique opportunity to see the exquisite work of our costume department over December 2007 to January 2008.
Costumes from the 2007 Festival production of Rossini's La Cenerentola were on display in the Pavillion's Music Room (pictured above). Rossini himself had once entertained King George IV in this room, just a few years after the first performance La Cenerentola in 1817.
The period influences of Moritz Junge's costume designs complemented the ornate Regency interior. Six costumes were on display including Angelina's silver dress worn in the ballroom scene and those worn by her scheming sisters Tisbe and Clorinda as well as one of Don Magnifico's outfits.
