Waterside Primary School, Stoke-on-Trent

From Joiners’ Square to Waterside – how Glyndebourne helped celebrate the opening of a new Primary School in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.

Stoke Operatunity

From 2005 to 2007, young people from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent participated in weekly workshops exploring the key areas associated with opera, with the aim of creating their very own.

Thanet Residency

From 2001 – 2003 we held a highly successful residency in Thanet in order to enhance and develop the music theatre and singing in the area and provide training opportunities.

Elemental - Glyndebourne Youth Opera

In March 2004 Glyndebourne's Education programme celebrated its 18th birthday and a successful four years of collaborating with the Brighton Youth Orchestra.

Greenhouse Project - Glyndebourne Youth Opera

In October 2005 GYO4 presented two companion pieces at Yo! International Youth Opera Festival Utrecht.

Special Needs Projects

We have worked on a number of projects with children and adults with learning difficulties, including work on performance and composition.

Hip H'Opera

We celebrated the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth in style in 2006 with a new work, School 4 Lovers – a Hip H’Opera that crossed national, generational and artistic boundaries.

During the production of our innovative Hip H'Opera we interviewed the performers and organisers to hear their thoughts on this unique collaboration.

Early Years

The Sure Start Children’s Centre in Hailsham teamed up in partnership with Glyndebourne Education Department, oboist Julian West and singer Rachel Fisher to provide a series of workshops for 2 – 5 year olds.

Primary Opera Experience

New operas commissioned by Glyndebourne for Primary Schools.

Misper

A Glyndebourne Youth Opera commissioned for the main stage.

Zoë

A Youth Opera commissioned by Glyndebourne.

Tangier Tattoo

A new opera commissioned for Glyndebourne on Tour 2005.

Sing-Up Pegasus

In January 2009, Glyndebourne Education collaborated with Pegasus Opera and the Royal Opera House to deliver a residency for professional singers and other music practitioners to develop skills to provide singing opportunities for primary school children.

Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Project

Glyndebourne Education and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment work together with schools in London and East Sussex around one of the Glyndebourne Festival productions

Sing Up Seahaven

As part of the Government's Initiative to enhance singing within Primary Schools Glyndebourne has formed Sing Up Seahaven, a Sing Up Community.

The Magic Flute

This new adaptation of Mozart’s The Magic Flute is the perfect way to introduce young people a to opera. After the a sell-out run at the Brighton Festival the production comes to Glyndebourne for Christmas.
